2024 - 2025 Premier League Season Preview: New Teams, New Managers, and High Expectations

As the Premier League returns for another year of football and excitement, fans are looking forward to how the teams fare after their summer break. With many of the players going away to play in the Euros or signing for different teams, each team has undergone its own restructuring for the upcoming season ahead, with some managerial changes also taking place. Join us as we guide you through some of our favourite highlights for the start of the 2024/2025 Premier League season.

Following the start of the season ahead, there will be a change in the roster of teams taking part in this year's tournament. At the end of the 2023/2024 season, Luton, Burnley, and Sheffield were relegated back down to the championship after only 1 year in the Premier League. Whilst their fans will be disappointed, it will give the team's time to restructure and perhaps find the root of their shortcomings. Instead, these teams are being replaced by Newly promoted Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich town. Leicester and Ipswich Town secured promotion automatically by finishing 1st and 2nd in the Championship after a thrilling season where they demonstrated their worthiness to compete with the footballing elites of the Premier League. Southampton on the other hand had a tougher road ahead, having to beat Leeds in the play-offs to secure their spot for the next season. Southampton and Leicester city return to the Premier League after a 1-year absence. Ipswich town on the other hand make a monumental return to the top flight, with this being their first appearance since 2002. As the season progresses it will be interesting to see how these teams fare in one of the toughest football divisions in Europe.

Whilst there aren't many transfers happening in the big 6 teams yet, there are some key leadership changes occurring on the other hand. At the end of last season, Jürgen Klopp announced his departure from Liverpool, winning them 1 Premier League title, 1 Champions League trophy, 1 FA Cup, and 2 Carabao Cups in his 8-year-long stay at the club. Replacing his place will be Dutch manager Arne Slot. With big expectations placed on his shoulders, will he be able to maintain Liverpool’s legacy as a titan of the footballing world? Another key change is the arrival of Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino after his 1 season stint at Chelsea. With Chelsea undergoing countless issues last season, will he be the man to restore this London club to their former glory? With great footballing minds such as Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou, they will have to make an effort to establish their name in this league like these managers have.

With the season drawing nearer, bookmakers are predicting this to be another highly competitive season of football. Manchester City are the most likely contenders for the title, with them being given odds of 11/10 to win the title. This is understandable with their flawless Premier League record where they have won 4 consecutive titles and are posed to do it again. Arsenal, also likely title contenders, are being given odds of 7/4. With Arsenal narrowly losing out on the title to Manchester City for the past 2 seasons, they will be eager to get revenge and finally bring the trophy home to the Emirates. Whilst not as likely, potential competitors also include Liverpool, who have been given odds of 7/1. Whilst bookmakers give these odds, football is an unpredictable sport with the competitive dynamic of the game often shifting meaning any team is still capable of pushing for the prestigious Premier League title.
