RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne, Germany
The RheinEnergieStadion, located in Cologne, serves as the home ground for 1. FC Koln and boasts a capacity of 50,000 spectators. Notably, the stadium has earned recognition for its outstanding sporting and leisure facilities, receiving a bronze medal from the International Olympic Committee.
Beyond hosting 1. FC Koln's home matches, the RheinEnergieStadion has been a venue for several significant games. During the 2005 Confederations Cup, it hosted the tournament's first three first-round matches, including the opening match between Tunisia and Argentina, which Argentina won 2-1.
The stadium has also been the setting for numerous Cup matches involving teams like Borussia Monchengladbach against Monaco and Arsenal, Galatasaray against Monaco, and Bayer Leverkusen against Barcelona. Additionally, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Europa League Final in 2020 was relocated from Stadion Energa Gdansk to the RheinEnergieStadion. The match between Inter Milan and Sevilla was played without spectators, and Sevilla emerged victorious with a 3-2 win.
